First Hummingbird of Spring

We hung up our hummingbird feeder a week ago and this morning saw that the sugar water was all gone. We refilled the feeder and just after supper were rewarded with a pair of Hummers eagerly attacking the feeder.

Max Dogsitting Karmen

Our neighbours are holidaying in Palm Springs and Karmen, their Shih Tzu is staying with Max.
She's half his size but pretty much rules. He tolerates her. As usual, he's very camera shy.

The Cat

This cool first day of Spring afternoon I went for a walk along Willingdon Beach Trail with the New Hip(py) and Max. This trail is spotted with logging artifacts and as we passed this one, Max turned around to say, "Now that's a CAT!!"

Spring?

Can it be that Spring Time has arrived in Powell River?
We could almost watch as these cherry blossoms burst into bloom this afternoon in the Grief Point area of town. It seems Grief Point is always a few days ahead of the higher elevations; where we happen to live!

Log Booms Waiting

This afternoon there were large log booms with their tugs tied up offshore along Marine Avenue near the look-out. There are pylons anchored here to allow the tugs to tie-up for various reasons; to wait for calmer seas because of weather, or possibly to wait their turn at the booming grounds where they are to drop the tows. Today was rather a unique situation as 3 tugs were there; a fairly large one (Papa Tug), a middle size tug (Mama Tug) and a small tug (Baby Tug). The last picture is of the ferry about ready to leave for Comox.
This gave us an opportunity to try the new camera! Click on the pics to enlarge them.
